Impact of IFRS on Financial Reporting Quality: A Systematic Review (2015–2025)
Abstract
In recent years, the quality of financial information has gained greater relevance due to the growth of international markets and the need for reliable accounting reports for decision-making. In this context, the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) have been implemented in different countries with the aim of improving the transparency and comparability of financial statements.
The purpose of this article is to examine the impact of IFRS on the quality of financial reporting through a systematic literature review published between 2015 and 2025. For this purpose, the PRISMA methodology was applied, and a search was conducted in the Scopus database using terms related to IFRS and financial quality. After the selection and screening process, 30 scientific studies were included in the analysis.
The results show that the adoption of IFRS has contributed to strengthening transparency, comparability, and relevance of financial information. However, the findings also indicate that these benefits depend on factors such as the institutional environment, regulatory supervision, professional training, and the effectiveness of internal control.
It is concluded that IFRS represents an important tool for improving the quality of financial reporting, although their impact depends on the organizational and regulatory conditions present in each context.
